DCLG praises Sussex live/work plan

The government has showcased a plan in Arundel that encourages live/work development as a showcase example of neighbourhood planning.

In a report to mark the introduction of new rules that cut the time needed to produce the grassroots plans, the Department for Communities and Local Government highlighted the neighbourhood blueprint for Arundel.

The study spotlights moves in the West Sussex market town’s plan to encourage the development of live/work units.

The plan says such development is especially suited to small businesses in the arts and cultural sectors, which it identifies as a strong feature of the Arundel economy. The plan also supports proposals to turn disused buildings into office space.
