New guidance for councils from the Homes and Communities Agency backs live/work development.
Draft HCA guidance says live/work units and associated hub facilities are two of the ‘products’ that should be looked at when drawing up the local investment plans, which will determine how the agency’s funding is distributed at a grassroots level.
The guidance, seen by LWN, says live/work development and hubs could be assessed to examine their potential contribution to meeting local ‘ambitions’ for fostering economic development alongside more conventional commercial products.
The inclusion of live/work in the guidance represents the first formal recognition of live/work by the HCA,, which has been responsible for the vast majority of housing and regeneration funding since its establishment just over a year ago.
The local investment plans are designed to implement the aims and objectives outlined during the so called ‘single conversation’ that the HCA has been conducting with local authorities and agencies since its foundation.
The first single conversation agreements have been signed between the HCA and Norwich City Council and the Greater Manchester authorities.
More information on the single conversation. We will post a link when the HCA publishes its new guidance on its website.
