CONFERENCE PURPOSE
To explore practical ways to create low carbon live/work business clusters and exploit the sustainability benefits of live/work property. The event will launch a national report from Live Work Network and the RTPI, Tomorrow's property today

Delegates will attend not only to hear about best practice across the country and in the USA, but to find a range of experts all in one place to answer their questions - including those running successful live/work businesses themselves

INTENDED OUTCOME
As well as gaining the insights of the UK's leading live/work experts and networking with them, delegates will be able to shape policy. An action document will be drawn up as a result of the conference, to take forward the proposals in the report Tomorrow's property today.

Delegates will be given the chance to contribute to this document which will be sent to central government, RDAs and all relevant national agencies. Live Work Network will have rapporteurs recording discussions throughout. We will also work with the RTPI, BT, RDAs and other partner agencies to help us work up this document after the conference

Kate Barker is adviser to the Treasury and Bank of England. Her Land Use Review recommended live/work on employment sites (confirmed)

Richard McCarthy heads the places and communities team in the government's Communities and Local Government department, which has just published draft planning guidance calling on local authorities to consider live/work (confirmed)

Robert Upton is secretary general of the Royal Town Planning Institute. The RTPI is co-producer of Tomorrow's Property Today and is co-hosting this conference (confirmed)

Matthew Taylor MP is advising the Prime Minister on the rural economy, including the promotion of live/work property (confirmed) 

MJ Long is a CABE commissioner and chair of its Design Panel, as well as a renowned architect with Long Kentish
